Who Is The Course For?
Anyone wanting to become familiar with the basics of machine sewing and develop a range of related skills. You will have the opportunity to make a simple top or tunic in a woven fabric.
What Will I Learn?
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand how to use a sewing machine and sewing equipment
- Learn how to prepare a pattern, layout fabric and cut out a garment
- Develop sewing techniques
- Gain knowledge of how to press and finish a garment
How WIll I Learn?
You will learn through observing tutor demonstrations, guidance and practical tasks.
What Does The Course Lead To?
Students that complete this course may be interested in enrolling in another creative craft course such as ‘Dressmaking – The Little Black Dress’.

- Tape measure
- Fabric scissors
- Small scissors
As projects may vary, you will need to liaise with the tutor during the first class before purchasing your own pattern, fabric or thread.
